Hi
I have some new Cisco 3850X switches deployed, across 4 new comms rooms (WS-C3850-48P) with 8841 IP Phones and typical Dell PCs. The switches have between 3 and 6 switches in each stack.
I am seeing ports go up and down regularly. Some ports with IP Phones attached and some without. If it's a port with a Cisco IP Phone attached, the phone is rebooting.
I have tried setting the port to 100mb/Full duplex, removing auto negotiation. The issue remains. Some ports are up and down twice in 1 minute!
Here is an extract of the log...
Mar 6 07:53:45.047: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface GigabitEthernet1/0/28, changed state to up

Mar 6 07:59:42.628: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface GigabitEthernet1/0/22, changed state to up
All cabling has been tested.
Has anyone seen this type of issue?
Thanks

I have also seen the following on some ports, ports without IP Phones attached:
Mar 5 18:35:49.578: ILP:: Gi1/0/36: State=NGWC_ILP_DETECTING_S-2, Event=NGWC_ILP_IEEE_DET_SHORT_EV-29
Mar 5 18:35:49.578: detected short from IEEE. still waiting to hear from phy Gi1/0/36
Switches running cat3k_caa-universalk9.SPA.03.06.01.E.152-2.E1.bin

Have you guys found the resolution to this issue?

Create a new thread because this one is >2 years old.

Steve,
Did this ever get resolved?
I have a customer seeing the same on a new stack of 3850's. Also have occasional ports that will not provide power despite there being more than enough power available on the switch. Customer switch is running 03.06.03E. Phones are Polycom VVX phones. 100+ phones on a stack of 4 3850 switches.
Thanks,
John
