Hi
I think it is possible to do interVlan routing in Catalyst 2960-s, and even in the 2960, but the performance of the switch is good? It is recommended?
Thanks

Hi there,
2960's are not layer 3 switches. As far as I know they do NOT allow inter-VLAN routing unless connected via a trunk to a router, which does the routing.
I'm fairly sure they aren't MLS switches at all so no routing between SVIs are possible. multiple SVIs may be configured, but only one is used, and only then for management.
You'll probably need to look at 3560/3750 series switches for MLS functions.

Hi Brad,
You can do static routing on 2960, see here: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst2960/software/release/12.2_55_se/configuration/guide/swipstatrout.html
Regards.

I'll be blowed, that document proves I am wrong. The 2960 I'm trying to get it to work on must be a -L or something.
I stand corrected, thanks for that! Another nugget of information to remember.

Static routing only became available recently with the newest code for these boxes, not something it started with .

Cisco has started L3 features on 2960-XR series..checkout the configuration guide for the same.
