I have a Catalyst 4503 with ios version Version 12.2(25)EWA6, but it doesnt seem to support ssh. What version is needed or does it support ssh? Thanks in advance.

Hello,
You need Lan Base K9 images to support the SSH. The exact IOS that you should look for is S4KL3K9-12225EWA6.

I guess the minimum IOS necessary for 4500 is 12.1(3)EW.. I guess your IOS should support this feature.. Just have a look at this URL for the support and the commands required to enable it..

Hi
Your version of IOS does have ssh support but it depends on the feature set you purchased with the version.
Have a look at the following link:-

You can use the Cisco feature navigator tool to select which feature set you need.
