I know the 2960-S switches have some IP SLA functionality but can the do actual object tracking and update routes when the object fails?

Hi Michael!
I just confirmed in a 2960s chassis with release 15.0(2) with LAN base license. The IP SLA and tracking features are supported.
Configurations are as follows:
switch1#show ver
Cisco IOS Software, C2960S Software (C2960S-UNIVERSALK9-M), Version 15.0(2)SE2, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

For Tracking object a IP based license will be needed, please refer to the following link for the 2960 available features:
