LAN Design using 10G EtherChannels

Hi All,

We are designing a LAN Network for ourselves.

The proposed design is as follows:

4 x 2960S switches in a Stack   Access-Stack-I
4 x 2960S-PoE switches in a second Stack Access-Stack-II

2 x 3750X switches in a Stack   Core-Stack

Now I would like to connect it in the following manner

First,I would like to use EtherChannel using the 10Gig Links
Secondly, I would like to use Cross-Stack EtherChanel too.

I have given a graphical illustration of the connectivity

10G-EtherChennal-Network.png
Now my Qs:

a) Will the 2960S supports EtherChannel using the 10G links and the 3750X too...
b) Does the proposed solution will work... or It will have any problems.

Thanks

GM

Hi,

It should work just fine since both 3760 and the 2960s support cross stack config.  the only limitation is that the 3560x switches have only 2 10gig interfaces. with your config, you can not add any more 10gig interfaces to the etherchannel.

HI,

Your proposed solution would work fine.

However, As a last recommended approach, make sure the Cross Stack eitherchannel to the Core is not between the Stack Master and the Core.

The Stack Master already has a lot of Job to do, so Its always recommended to connect to the Distribution or the Core from the Stack using Edge Memeber of STack switches.

Yes.  This'll work.  We have this setup in our network.

Be aware that you can only stack a maximum of four 2960S.

Hi Skylarkblr

Your network worked fine as your network topology? Using 10G uplinks for etherchannel between 2960s and 3750-x switches?

Claudio
