Hi Everyone!
A co-worker of mine was recently involved with swapping out a Cisco 3550 switch with a Cisco 3560-E. For some reason, he wasn't able to ping the switch or connect to it through another switch and all uplinks and trunking was setup correctly. I noticed in the original config that was pasted in that the mls qos commands were missing and that configuration was in the old config before replacement. Could the mls qos commands being missing be the reason why he couldn't connect to the switch?
Thanks.

Seannetta,
MLS QOS is for qos. It should not impact the basic connectivity.
Is the switch accessible via console? Are you able to ping the switch? When you try to login to the switch are you getting any login prompt?
Thanks & Regards,

Hi Karthick,
I didn't think the mls qos was an issue but I wasn't sure. The switch is accessible via Hyperteminal but he couldn't ping the switch through the network and couldn't log into the switch either. Not sure what's going on. The wiring was checked as well as the trunking, the default gateway was correct but when doing a "sh cdp entry * protocol" on the uplinked switch, the switch we were trying to access wasn't listed.
Thanks.

Wat is the protocol status of the interface from the neighbor device connecting to this device???

There are two switches that couldn't get connected to the network. Both are Cisco 3560E switches and both were uplinked to the appropriate trunks. I could see the interface up for both trunk ports but I couldn't ping them.
The protocol status for either switch was blanked. It never showed for instance:
Protocol information for XXXXSW25:
IP address: 10.x.x.25
Thanks.
