I have encountered a strange issue with my 3560G switch running c3560-ipservicesk9-mz.150-2.SE10a.bin. It will ping the gateway and other computers for a short time then refuse to ping anymore. The only way to get ICMP replies is to move the crossover cable to a different port on the other switch. I had it connected via a trunk to the other switch but the same issue occurred. See code below. The IP address is 10.1.1.17.
3560G#ping 10.1.1.1
Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 10.1.1.1, timeout is 2 seconds:
!!!!!
Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 1/203/1007 ms
3560G#ping 10.1.1.1
Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 10.1.1.1, timeout is 2 seconds:
!!!!!
Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 1/2/8 ms
3560G#ping 10.1.1.1 r 1000
Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 1000, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 10.1.1.1, timeout is 2 seconds:
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Success rate is 100 percent (1000/1000), round-trip min/avg/max = 1/2/9 ms
3560G#ping 10.1.1.1
Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 10.1.1.1, timeout is 2 seconds:
.....
Success rate is 0 percent (0/5)

is this in same L3 network segment? if so check if your network have any duplicate IP for 10.1.1.1. also check mac address table of switch when ping is success and drops. check if there any issues in MAC address learned for 10.1.1.1

Thanks Kasun. It turns out that the NetComm internet router was issuing DHCP leases wirelesly that overlapped the IP addresses I was using on the LAN side. A reconfigure to lease only in the 10.1.1.200 -10.1.1.254 block has fixed this. I also dropped the lease time down to 4 hours from 24 hours. Thanks for your help, all is working as it should.
