I have connected a voip phone and ip camera getting the same error.. any idea ?

I have tried this on a few diff devices.. changed cables and also the switch would this unit work with none cisco products ...

Hello,
According to Cisco Output Interpreter:
%ILPOWER-3-CONTROLLER_PORT_ERR (x1): Controller port error, Interface [chars]:[chars].
Explanation: : A fault condition was detected on the power controller. An port
error has been reported by the inline power controller.
Recommended Action: 1. Make sure that the devices are correctly grounded.
2. Check the speed/duplex setting on the remote end of the connection.
3. Perform a shutdown and no shutdown on interface [chars].
4. If the device is not an IP Phone - disable inline power on this port.
5. If the error message continues: There are several know bugs related to
this message such as CSCeb24148. Check the Bug Toolkit for bugs relevant
to this device and software version.
The last option might be what you are facing

device is a ip camera... and I also connect a snom ip phone and the phone keeps rebooting the power comes on for a few sec and goes off..

1. Plug the end-point device directly to the switch.
2. If problem persist, change patch cables.

been there .. done that.. I think the 3350 is not capable of powering POE devices other then cisco CDP stuff... just like the 3524.. I upgraded IOS..
I guess If one does not have cisco device I am SOL .. POS switch.

Hello,
Do you have a Cisco IP Phone or Wireless Access-point? Perhaps the ip phone/camera that you are plugging in is not compatible with the switch. Also, depending on the product, they have a compatibility list that you can check.
