Hi,
Has anybody ever seen a issue which an access port becomes unresponsive (meaning my PC gets a 169.xx.xx.xx IP address). I created a spanning port and no data comes in or out of the port. The shut / no shut has no effect. The only way is to reboot the switch.
If this was a one switch issue, I would replace it. However, I have other switches in other sites that have similar behaviour. I haven't noticed any apparent pattern, The port number and the time is random. I opened a TAC with Cisco, but haven't heard from them yet. I was curious if anybody else ever experienced this problem.
Thanks !

So you made the port a destination using the "monitor session" command? If so, you can't also use it as an access port.

Hi jmunoz19 ,
I configured the unresponsive port as the source and other as destination. I saw no packets coming in or out.
Have you ever seen that ??
Thanks !

Hi,
I configured the unresponsive port as the source and other as destination. I saw no packets coming in or out.
If the port is errdisabled then this is normal. Is the LED amber when you don't get IP anymore?
Can you post sh run int X /X as well as sh int X/X status when problem arises.
Regards.
Alain.

Hi cadetalain ,
Here's the information you requested. The port is presently down because we had to move the PC on another port. The port is not in errdisable mode when the PC is connected. Also, the LED turns green when the PC is connected.

Hi,
Can you sniff on host while renewing dhcp lease and at same time SPAN the traffic to other port.
Post the 2 capture files here and if the dhcp server is a cisco router then do a debug ip dhcp server event and debug ip dhcp server packet
at the same time.
Regards.
