Hello All,
I am new to this community so please excuse in case I do some mistake.
My query is regarding wrr-queue to be configured on 6500. Now my requirement is like I want to give Voice and Video high priority and if possible need to configure Buffer(Optional). As adding buffer will add delay it is not recommended but still would require expert suggestions from your end.
I tried configuring policy-map on 6500 but it was not supporting it there was some egress and ingress queues present with which we were not comfortable.
I thought of configuring something like as mentioned below:-
mls qos
interface gig 0/1
wrr-queue cos-map 1 5 6 7
wrr-queue cos-map 2 3 4
wrr-queue cos-map 3 2
wrr-queue cos-map 4 1
priority-queue out
exit
Please correct me in ase I am doing some mistake.
My cofusion lies in cos-map 6 and 7 which actually applies for Control-plane traffic and also in the priority-queue do I need to map the particular queue there or it will automatically map it to queue 1 of wrr.
Also after enabling mpls qos will it automatically map appropriate cos values to voice and Video or I need to do it maually.
Please help.
Thanks and Regards,
Mangesh.

Hi Mangesh,
The QoS setting for 6500 is different on each line card, and the default cos to queue map is based on the line card you using. For example 6548 has 1p3q1t, the default cos mapping is
Q1 COS 0,1
Q2 COS 2,3,4
Q 3 COS 6,7
Q4 strict-priority queue COS 5
For the configuration example and recommendation, you can use qos design guide as reference.
