We have Cisco Catalyst 3750X-48T-S Switchs in our environment. Currently, all are loaded with the 12.2.58-5E2(ED) IOS. Review of the available IOS's for these switches shows two possibilities. The 12.2.58-5E2(ED) IOS was last updated in July 27, 2011, where as the 15.0.2-SE3 ED has a newer date - June 05, 2013. Which should I use???

Testing 15.0(2)SE3 and so far my verdict is EPIC FAIL.

If all your switches are "3750X-48T-S" then I recommend you stay with 12.2(55)SE7.  Don't even bother going to 12.2(58)SE (and later) or you'll really regret it with High CPU bugs.

This info have been recorded in many posts Please read it:

"Unless you need features in 12.2(58)SE or 15.0(1)SE or 15.0(2)SE, then I suggest you stay as far away from these.

If I was to recommend a "stable" IOS, then 12.2(55)SE7 is my first choice.  This is followed by 15.0(2)SE2'

Inayath,

I'm going to add some "proviso" with this finding.

15.0(2)SE2 works well with 2960/G/S even with 802.1x, HOWEVER, if you have 3560/3750 I'd recommend anyone to stay away from 15.0(2)SE2.

I've started testing 15.0(2)SE3 on the 3560 and so far the result is very disappointing.

Thanks Leo.

hmm...so there is no improvement on 15.0(2)SE3 as well....I didnt got time to test the functionality of this software anyhow lets see how customer reports on this firmware and will try to get back to the concern team with the issues.

Ummmm ... Here's what happened, my test 3560CG is running 15.0(2)SE2.  After I rebooted to 15.0(2)SE3, I COULD NOT console, telnet and SSH into the unit.   I could see the banner, but that's it.  No TACACS/Radius.  Not even local login.  Nothing.

I had to perform password recovery and boot the IOS from the USB stick.

Still testing on 2960S and doing further testing on 3560CG.

Has Cisco made any comments about this issue? Seems strange that they are not aggressively seeking an corrective solution.
