Hi I have two 6500 chassis and plan to upgrade the supervisors from sup32 to sup720.

What is the correct procedure to do this?

I imagine it's the following but I'd like to be sure.

Backup config

power down switch

boot off new sup720

restore config

Many thanks

You got the gist of it.  Sup32 and sup720's will go in the same slots so nothing else will change other than some interface numbering on the sup itself.

Hi I have two 6500 chassis and plan to upgrade the supervisors from sup32 to sup720.

Can you delay the upgrade of the Sup720?  The new VSS-Sup2T will be out by mid-2011.

Time and budget constraints mean than I need to get them ordered and installed within about 2 week max, so I can't afford to wait for new VSS-Sup2T, as much as I would like to.

Thanks for the advice.. should be fairy stright forward then.
