When indicating a single host is the subnet mask always 255.255.255.255?

Hi,
Yes that is correct, when you are giving a subnet mask for a specific host, the mask is 255.255.255.255
Maybe you can tell us what exactly are you trying to do, that would be better!
Hope this helps!

I am adding a single host route to a VPN device. I believe you have answered my question. Thanks.

Hi Beiriger,
Also, please note that if you are using an ACL the reverse is true, ie it will be then 0.0.0.0 or simply you can use Host key word in ACLs.
Kind Regards,
