SNMP timed out

Hi,

My NMS send SNMP time out message from the host which is in a diffrent VLAN other than the NMS.I did't find anything wrong in my network and it seems to be no delay between these two.Please help me how to find out the resoluation for this issue.FYI , here i am sending the ping from the NMS to the host.Please chcek .Some packet shows around 9 ms.Pls specify whether it is normal or ubnormal .Pls help.

ping response seems to be fine.

as you have mentioned that NMS and host are in different VLAN, just wondering is there any access list configured which is blocking SNMP port?

Hi,

There is no access list and I am not sure that it is the network issue.It may be the SNMP server and host issue.But I have to make it confirmed that the netowork is fine .

All the networking devices in between these two are having the basic config only.

Hi,

Check for access-lists which might be blocking the SNMP port or if there is a firewall in between the NMS and the device, the SNMP might be blocked.

Also check the community string that you have specified for the device is correct in the NMS.

Hi Abhishek,

There is no access list and no firewall in between these two.Alos cheked the community string it is same and it is working some time and goes off some time. I am not sure that it is the network issue.It may be the SNMP server and host issue.But I have to make it confirmed that the netowork is fine . All the networking devices in between these two are having the basic config only.

are you sure the device under question has SNMP enabled and identical community strings as the NMS?
