                   Hi community,

we have an issue with some NIC-cards connecting to a new standard switch device.

Switch device is: WS-C4506-E sw. 12.2.53.SG1

Modules:

1     6  Sup 6L-E 10GE (X2), 1000BaseX (SFP)    WS-X45-SUP6L-E

2    48  10/100/1000BaseT Premium POE E Series  WS-X4648-RJ45V+E

3    48  10/100/1000BaseT Premium POE E Series  WS-X4648-RJ45V+E

4    48  10/100/1000BaseT Premium POE E Series  WS-X4648-RJ45V+E

5    48  10/100/1000BaseT Premium POE E Series  WS-X4648-RJ45V+E

6    48  10/100/1000BaseT Premium POE E Series  WS-X4648-RJ45V+E

Problem description:

When some NIC-cards try to connect to one of the switchports on the WS-X4648 Module the Port is not connecting.

When we tried to verify with network tester we have the same issue.

From network tester support we got the feedback that this is caused by the POE Plus standard and will be fixed with next firmware release on the Testers NIC.

However because of various affected NIC cards i would like to run the POE E switchports in "normal" POE operation mode.

Is this possible?

thanks for your feedback

Do you receive any errors on the switch when you connect one of these affected NIC's?

no, nothing on switch site it just looks like no NIC is connecting.

Have you checked the cable layed is cat5 or cat6? Once I faced this kind of issue and found that the problem was with cable lied from the port to switch was cat 5 and ports which are working was layed with cat6 cable.

If it is not the case then please post the error recieved on the switch.

Please provide the output for

sh power inline module (module no)

sh power inline gigabitEthernet 1/10(port)

sh power detail

Jepp cable is replaced, and at least devices were connected directly on the switch via different patch cords.

Here the requested output:
