Stacking switches at remote locations

Hi,

I am planning on deployment of 2 cisco switches. They will be located at different floors with the fiber uplink between them. The questions is how can I put them in a stack utilizing the uplinks? I can not use the normal stack cables as the switches are not at the same location.

You can't (I believe), but you can certainly use the fiber uplink interconnections to extend a VLAN (or VLANs if trunking is supported) between two switches.

Are you dealing with 3750 switches?

Unfortunately, you cannot have a true stack through fibre uplinks on the 3750s. What you may be looking for is clustering. Here's a doc with more information on clustering on the 3750:

Let me know if you are working with something other than a 3750..
