When i use the single sup1A to the 6509 chassis and boots it come to normal. All the 4 LEDS are green. (status, system, active, pwr mgmt) but whenever i inserted the second standby sup1A to the slot 2 of the chassis it boots the image and finally it showing the below console message goes to "router-sdby> mode.

press return to get started

00:01:29: %sys-stdby-5-restart:system restarted- -

00:01:29:%snmp-stdby-5-coldstart:snmp agent on host router is undergoing a cold start

Please what could be the workaround to solve the problem.

Please help me since it is very urgent issue to resolve to one of my corporate customer.

Thanks in advance

Hi Swamy,

As far as the " router-sdby>" mode >>> This basically means that the supervisor that you showed booting up is a redundant sup in a chassis and it just came up and it's in standby mode. There is no console connection to the standby supervisor as it is in standby.

What does ' show module " tell you on the active sup. If it says that it is OK, then there is nothing to worry about the standby sup is in standby mode. If it doesnot show you under "show module" this means that there is some problem with the Sup and we have to troubleshoot it. check for the error messages or log on teh console when it boots the capture them. Then paste it here.

HTH, Please rate if it does.

Hi Swamy ,

Can you paste the sh mod and sh power outputs as well as messages you are getting on console.

Thanks,

Hi swamy ,

Is it possible to get console message nd show-tech..I will try to help you once i get those logs.

Thanks,

Hi Swamy

In addition to other posts i would suggest to check the boot command configured out there.

We did face similar kinda issues with some of our 7606 routers and solved the same after modifying the boot statements..
