We have 2 core switches connected to each other.core switch 1 acts as root for vlans 3,5,7 and switch 2 for 2,4,6.
we have a server with 2 interfaces to each core.server is in vlan 3.
Can i make core switch 2 to act as root only for this server?

Hi
I think this is not possible as we cannot make a STP root switch for a particular end system it can be done on a per vlan basis.
Thanks

Hello Sam,
as explained by Mahmood this is not possible.
the root bridge is defined for each Vlan in PVST.
Note that the server will use the NICs in active/standby strategy so you cannot have both NICs active.
if the server tries to use both NICs (active/active) you get a lot of errors of type MAC address flapping.
to use both NICs they should be connected to a single switch and you should use etherchannel (LACP is recommended).
Hope to help
