Hi all,
One of our clients has a WS-C4500X-16 switch. Due to connectivity needs, it was decided to install a network module (C4KX-NM-8) in the free slot. The module comes from another 4500 in operation and was removed 'hot swap' without pressing the OIR button. When inserting it, also hot swap, into the new switch we observed that no LED lights up and the switch does not recognize it (we do not see it through the CLI with the 'show inventory' command).
Can anything be done to try to recover the module? Do I have to press the OIR button once inserted? Any specific CLI command can help us?
Thank you so much

8-Port Uplink Module Installation Note - Cisco
Is there power enough to power it up ? the module should take around 35w.

Hi @RoadRunner4k,
It seems that if there is enough:
SW_4500#show power available
Power Summary Maximum
(in Watts) Used Available
---------------------- ---- ---------
System Power (12V) 540 750
Inline Power (-50V) 0 0
Backplane Power (3.3V) 0 0
---------------------- ---- ---------
Total 540 750
We have even restarted the switch but the module still does not turn on.
Thank you!

Post the complete output to the command "sh log".

Hello,
Fortunately we were able to resolve the problem. The module was incorrectly inserted into the switch. I thank you all for your help. In any case, a strange behavior is observed on the 4500. These messages are sporadically observed in the logs, as if the SFPs connected to the switch were physically connected and disconnected, when this is not the case:

The 'show power detail' command does not show random power losses and the diagnostics carried out do not reveal problems either.
It is certainly a strange thing that we are not. The software version is: (cat4500e-UNIVERSAL-M), Version 03.08.09.E
What else could we try or verify?
Thanks again to everyone

What is the uptime of the chassis?
My first reaction would be to "reset slot 2 line card" but since slot 1 line card is spitting error messages then this could mean something else.

Sorry for the delay in the response. Finally, by changing the SFPs it seems that we have managed to stabilize the operation. Thanks for the help!
