Transceiver port of Catalyst 2960

I am presently using 1GB transceiver on my Catalyst 2960, please can i use 10GB transceiver on Catalyst 2960 switch?

Please kindly advice on which way to go.

its been Long time worked on 2960, personally I do not believe as i remember it supports 10GB uplink port

2960 does not support 10Gig optic, however 2960-X does.

Hi All,

Cisco 2960X has 2 variants in uplinks 1G and 10G. If your switch is having 4 Uplink ports then it is 1G and if it is having 2 Uplink ports then it is 10G. Below are the part number examples.

WS-C2960X-48FPS-L --- this is 48 Port POE with 4X1G uplinks
WS-C2960X-48FPD-L ------ this is 48 Port POE with 2 X 10G uplinks.
