Troubleshooting high CPU utilization

Hi Friends,

Can you tell me how to troubleshoot high CPU utilization. For example i execute the show process cpu sorted command and came to know that some process consumes cpu utilization. what's my next step.How can i know which processes is for what purpose and how they can be troubleshoot.
