Hi,

We have configured HSRP using SVI interface on Nexus switches but we are getting both active and standby state is "unknown". Also showing the below output error. Could you please provide any solution.

Vlan249 - Group 249 (HSRP-V2) (IPv4)
Local state is Initial(Interface Down)

When the HSRP status on Nexus switches shows "unknown" and the local state is "Initial", it indicates that the interface associated with the HSRP group is down or experiencing issue. I'm not expert, but I give you some tips for solve to this issue. First of all you Check interface status, Verify HSRP configuration, Verify network connectivity, Check for any conflicting configurations, Verify HSRP timers and Update your firmware. I hope this help you for solve this issue. myfedloan org estimator

I have checked the interface status and its showing the below results, i tried to bounce the interface but still no luck.

Vlan249 10.221.249.2 protocol-down/link-down/admin-up

you run vPC, and you config HSRP for vPC VLAN ?
if Yes then what you need is allow VLAN in peer-link

I have allowed vlan in vpc peer-link but now active one is in "local" state and standby is still in "unkown" state.

show vpc breif <<- share this

24 is my vlan

vPC Peer-link status
---------------------------------------------------------------------
id Port Status Active vlans
-- ---- ------ -------------------------------------------------
X PoX up 24

but the VLAN 249 is Down !!!
and this not complete output? are you see failed in type2 check ?

Hello @gparapitev,

Since vlan249 is in down state, HSRP Group should be down too.

Please share your configuration here.

Best regards
