Hello, I have a stack of 2 3850s. The active switch unexpectedly reloads, causing the standby to become active; they swap places. I have a very large switch-report file that has been generated. The switch-report file is a .gz file and apparently its compressed. how do I uncompress this file? also, lets say Cisco can't help me because I don't have a support contract...what would people do in this situation to investigate the problem?
Thank you

Hi afsharki2,
Please check the reason for the reload in 'Show version' output.
Also check if the switch generated a crashdump file in the flash when it rebooted. You can open a TAC case with that crashdump attached.

Sh version doesn't give a reload reason other than the one that happened more than 6 months ago when there was a "power failure". I guess the whole stack has to be reloaded in order for sh ver to reset the switch up time. As far as Cisco TAC: I can't submit it because I don't have it, that's why I asked what other method I can use to investigate this.

Use the remote command option:
remote command <switch num> sh ver
Find the peer switch num using the show switch command.
sw-01#sh switch
