Upgrading ios on cat 6506 from 12.1 to 12.2

Upgrading ios on cat 6506 from 12.1 to 12.2

system got crashed when i tired to upgrade c6sup22-dsv-mz.121-23.E2.bin to s222-ipservices_wan-mz.122-18.SXF7.bin on cat 6506. some funny msg (Software forced crashed)

Do i need to upgrade the bootldr to upgrade 12.2 ios ???

(Current bootldr on the system - bootflash:c6msfc2-boot-mz.121-13.E14.bin)

Also cant find any Bootldr for 12.2 . Can anyone guide me please...

Did you check to make sure you had adequate hardware memory requirements before upgrading ? That new version is a lot bigger than the one you are replacing . Newer images like sxf7 do not require a bootloader image .

Please paste the "show version" from the switch If you have.

I hope that you have checked these requirements:

Supervisor Engine 2 with PFC2:

?ROMMON version 7.1(1) or later

?32-MB bootflash device

?256-MB DRAM (minimum)

Multilayer Switch Feature Card 2 (MSFC2) with 256-MB DRAM (minimum)
