vlan layer 3 connections

Hi all, I have set up 3 vlans on my switch, and routing on the switch between them, what benifits will this give me, rather than say plugging a router in the lan with 3 diff ip's on it ?

L3 switches are much faster at processing packets than a router having to route packets between interfaces . This will give you much better thruput on your network between subnets .

in addition u r saving costs as u r not required to have those extra ports for each vlan on the router.
