VRRP Group Limit

Hello,

I have Cisco Catalyst 6506 with two  WS-X6K-SUP2-2GE supervisors. When I enable more than 16 VRRP group in  this switch, I got "%MLS-3-FIB_MAXHSRP:Maximum number of supported HSRP  addresses (16) exceeded" error message. My questions:

1) Did WS-X6K-SUP2-2GE has 16 VRRP group limitation same as HSRP group  limitation?

2) How can I upgrade from 16 VRRP group limitation to 256 group? Can I  simply swap this WS-X6K-SUP2-2GE with WS-SUP720 to upgrade it?

the error you have relates to 16 addresses per group, not 16 groups

You should be able to configure 256 groups but you will be limited to 16 addresses in each group.
