hey all, not sure if this is normal behavior.
2 chassis each with dup vss sup engines
chassis 1 active, chassis 2 standby
basically, we pull the active sup out of the chassis 1, chassis 1 reboots, chassis 2 takes over, but when chassis 1 comes up with the other sup (in slot 6), it comes back in recovery mode. is this normal? how do we get it to boot and become standby?

No, that is not normal. When chassis 1 comes back online, Sup in slot 6 should be in SSO hot standby state.
Before any failure and when both chasses are online. The first Sup in switch 1 is in SSO active and the second Sup in switch 1 is in RPR-Warm.
The first Sup in chassis 2 is in SSO Hot Standby and the second Sup in RPR-Warm.

hi, what do you think could be the problem?
now, we inserted the sup back in slot 5, rebooted the whole chassis, and it defaulted back to non-vss.
we are at a lost. any help is appreciated, thanks!

What version of IOS are you running?

s72033-advipservicesk9_wan-mz.122-33.SXI5.bin
should we upgrade? it has been very difficult to bring this standby chassis back to vss.
we did a "wr e" and as soon as we convert to vss mode and add the fast-hello links and 10ge vsl's, it goes to recovery mode?
