Hello All,
What are the differences between CatOS and IOS? Are IOS XE, XR belongs to IOS ?

Hi best to have a read of these 2 docs explains the diffs , CatOS is what they had years ago before IOS , XR was made for high end routers ASRs9,CRS , XE was made for ASR ,1000s, 3850s and 3650s XR and XE are part of IOS architecture , CatOS is now legacy

Hi mark,
Thank you so much. That means IOS XE is used only for cisco 3650, 3850 stack switches and ASR 1000 series , right ?

Hi ios-xe also used on the cisco wireless controllers the wlcs , it may be on others I just know for certain its on those models
If you checke
the platforms on Cisco website you will be able to see what ios or ios-xe version they use by the image you would download , as the ios-xe contain the ios version as well as there own ios-xe version in the code
3.16.2 is ios xe and 15.5.3 is IOS
