If I remember correctly, the VLAN database (stored in flash).

as other poster noted, The VLAN configuration is stored in the vlan.dat file, which is stored in  RAM or NVRAM (flash -depends on model ) , You can see information dir command there you can  find vlan.dat file.

 

if the switch is in VTP server or transparent mode, you can configure VLANs in global and VLAN configuration modes. When you configure VLANs in global and config-vlan configuration modes, the VLAN configuration is saved in the vlan.dat files, not the running-config or startup-config files. To display the VLAN configuration, enter the show vlan command.

How to Ask The Cisco Community for Help

Are you sure some platforms store the VLAN database (vlan.dat) in RAM (other than perhaps a shadow copy)?  If such, how do you "see" it residing there?  (I forget, dir command work with RAM?)

 i should have given more clarity on that part ...thanks for correcting and clarity. You can only view with dir (flash).
