C40 CODEC Rebooting

I have several Tandberg/Cisco C40 codecs with TC 4.2.0 version software. These codecs will randomly reboot themselves. I have not noticed an fluctuation in power and they are all on UPS and power conditioners. I have found no discernible pattern to the reboots. Has anyone experienced this before and is there something else I should be looking at? Thank you.

Hi ,

TC 4.2.0 is very old firmware version , Please upgrade codec to TC 5.1.7 or TC 6.1 and test are you still facing issue .

Kind regards,

Dharmmesh

Hi Craig,

Apart from what Dharmesh has mentioned, consider the temperature factor. Codecs will shutdown/reboot if their temperature increases and the fans are not able to cool them down. Check and make sure that there is no blockage which might limit the codec to disperse it's heat to the surroudings. The room should be well ventilated to allow the temperature of the codec to remain at 60 degree celsius or less.

Thanks

Thank you both for your responses. I will be updating the software as soon as I can. Contract is pending before Cisco will release it to me. As for heat, I haven't noticed it being an issue. The cabinets are well ventilated and it's still too bloody cold here for May (had to turn on the heat in my house two days ago). But I will keep an eye on that.
