If recommend going to CE8.2.0 (now that it's been released) instead of 8.0.1.
But, yes, you can go straight from TC7.3.3 or TC7.3.6.

Hi,
you also need to take care of Remote control after u upgrade to CE 8 .
Equipment and feature considerations before upgrading from TC to Collaboration Endpoint Software 8.x
The following features and equipment is not supported with Collaboration Endpoint Software:
§ Cisco TelePresence Touch 8
o Replaced by the Cisco TelePresence Touch 10
§ Cisco TRC5 remote control and below
o Replaced by the Cisco TRC6 remote for systems that support remote control as a control device i.e. SX20 and SX10

Just be aware when going from TC to EC, you also need to replace the TRC5 remote control with TRC6 or, if you're using Touch 8, this must be replaced with Touch 10.

You can still use TRC5, you just get a message on the screen if you push an unsupported button saying you should use a TRC6.

In addition to Wayne's comment regarding software versions, if you have either CUCM or TMS and if the endpoint is running TC7.3.0 or 7.3.1, you can upgrade the SX20 to CE software using either of those management solutions. However if running TC7.2.x or earlier, or upgrading via the web interface of the endpoint, you should first upgrade to TC7.3.6.
Important information for those who want to upgrade from TC to CE software are in the release notes linked in Aman's reply starting on pg 6, and should be read to understand the differences in the software as well as how to upgrade.
