Why was LyncCompatibility Mode removed from 7.x versions?  Or was it just moved to another menu?

Hi

Correct, the lynccompatibility mode configuration was removed in TC7. The reason is that VCS X8.1 does this job better, it is easy to configure, and you do not need to use TC6.3 with the lynccompatibility mode configuration. The VCS will do the interworking for any TC version.

At the time this feature was imeplemented on TC, the VCS (x7) could not do the interworking, so it was possible to make this work by enabling this configuration, although this was not recommended and more seen as a test setup. This also required turning off the B2BUA on the VCS which could cause other interworking scenarios to break.

The recommendation is to let the VCS do the interworking and leave the endpoint as is.

Thanks,

-Johan

If it was under experimental menu, that menu was hidden. In the search box on top left of configuration page, type in: lync then Im hoping it will show.

The setting for Lync Compatibility was under the "Conference" menu in TC6.3. (xconfiguration Conference LyncCompatibility Mode: On)

Doing a search as you have suggested on TC7.0.1 does not show any results, and the previous xconf command doesn't work.

I don't use Lync, so can't confirm for Douglas, but perhaps a setting change is no longer required in TC7.x?  Release notes just say it works if you're using X8.1 VCSs.

HI Wayne.  Your right.  For some reason I was thinking it was under experiemental which is hidden now.

I'll do some checking to see why it was removed and verify to see if its on by default now.

The setting was removed in TC7.0.1.  You will need X8.1 VCS and more likely the Microsoft Interoperability key for things to work.  This is listed in X8.1 Release Notes for VCS.  Sorry about the confusion here.

That is still confusing because you needed both X8.1 VCS and the Microsoft Interoperability key for things to work with the Lync option in TC6.x.  So I dont think that answers the question yet.  Is this something that is built-in and and enabled in TC7.01? Or was it removed?
