Hi,
I've been going through the CLCNF course and have come across a strange thing concerning load balancing from Expressway to CMS.
The course indicates that for multiple streamers or recorders you would configure a neighbour zone to each CMS and then configure a copy of the search rule for each Neighbour zone, using the *same priority*:
" ... If the Call Control is Cisco Expressway-C then each Streamer should have their own neighbor zone and search rules with the same priority to manage the load balancing of the calls equally across the recorders. "
Using the same priority for multiple search rules pointing to the CMS Recorders/Streamers seems crazy to me. Unless I am mistaken the expressway would send an Invite to each CMS Recorder/Streamer. That can't possibly be a good thing. If I look at the White Paper for for load balancing to CMS for Call Bridge Groups it certainly doesn't recommend this.
Please advise,
Joey

Hi,
Just because you use the same priority for multiple search rules, doesn't mean the call gets sent to multiple destinations. It won't do that.
If it would do that, then it would be forking a call.
If you are not feeling well with the recommended setup, then you can use different priorities. But then the call will always be sent to the neighbour zone, with the highest prio in the search rule.
If you don't configure the same prio, how should the load balancing then be invoked?

Hi,
I am not sure whether you went through the Cisco white paper here that detailed the CMS load balancing from the expressway zone and search rule.
"Balancing calls over local Call Bridges is achieved by configuring a zone per local Call Bridge on the Cisco Expressway, the zone contains a single link to a single local conference resource in that location. The zone should be set up with a custom zone profile enabling Meeting Server load balancing"
In the cisco expressway zone configuration, you can enable the Meeting Server load balancing under the advance > Custom configuration.
