I need to a tool to  Archive my Messages even if the messages are deleted like one (1) year ago.

What should I do to retrieve long deleted messages?

Hi,

when you delete voice messages within Unity Connection, the messages are automatically moved to the Deleted Items folder and you can still retrive those messages if you configured ageing policy in Cisco Unity Connection, however if the aging policy expires the messages gets deleted permanently so you would not be able to retreive the messages once the aging policy expires.

Managing Message Aging Policies

Message aging policies can help ensure that the hard disk where voice messages are stored does not fill up. Each policy allows you to specify message aging rules to automatically:

  • Move new messages to the Saved Items folder after a specified number of days.

This option is primarily useful for users whose message action is Accept and Relay the Message, which causes Unity Connection to relay copies of voice messages to an external mail account while also saving the messages to the Unity Connection message store. You can use this option to prevent users who only check voice messages using the external mail account from exceeding their mailbox quota.

  • Move read messages to the Deleted Items folder after a specified number of days.
  • Permanently delete messages in the Deleted Items folder after a specified number of days. In the Default System Policy message aging policy, this is the only rule that is enabled.

Have a look on the below docs for clarification on the same.hope this helps.

Thanks for this prompt response

i dont think ther is any specific tool for it rather this would depend on your system Message Aging Policy configuration, if it is configured to retain message for an year old.

Thanks Venperum for your response,  That is if my message aging policy say do not age messages( no expiration )? if i may ask, does it mean that I can retrieve these messages even if deleted by the user?

Thanks again

yes, the user will have an option to restore deleted messages over the phone on the basis of Aging policy configuration which would not allow you to set more than 365 days(verify once). and if the user is deleted for somereason, then the mailbox would also get deleted for that user.

Regards,

Thanks for your informative responses, sorry for delay in my response. I noticed in my CUC my aging policy is on the default settings which is not set for 365 days.

I have a chalenge here concerning a particular user that we have kind of legal issues on one of the voicemail received april,2015. I don't know if this can still be retrieve if yes in what other way can it be archived?

Also just to let you know,we are afraid of enabling long time storage because of the size of the available storage on the server. Is there a way to set some sets of a particular user's voicemail againg policy without including all the users?

Thanks again for your direct response.

Thanks Deepak, but my question is when message is set to deletes permanently in the settings after 7days can it be retrieved by any chance?
