Good afternoon,
Just curious if there is any good outlines of steps for upgrading 9.1.2 to 10.5 and how long process is going to take? Any cautions that I should be aware of? We are going to download and prep the new version, run a backup of the data (just in case). Upgrade and things should work?
thanks in advance-latenaite

You need to read:
A) Upgrade guide
B) Release notes
Above documents will give you ALL the info and things you need to be aware of for the upgrade, as well as the procedure.
Go through those docs, for each product, and then let us know if you have further questions.
The overall procedure is going to be similar to this one

A few things might change as you're not going to 11, but that's why you need to read the docs.

Hi Jaime,
Thanks for this.
Viewed the video and had some questions:
1) Noticed that you change the OS to Redhat Linux 64 bit, wouldn't that wipe out all day?
2) I didn't see any back up of database prior to the upgrade. It should be done?
3) Do you have a procedure to upgrade to 10.5 of Unity (going from 9.1.2)
Wanted to confirm, so it looks like everything is compatible with the new version (will read the release note..etc) and after the upgrade, all configuration and data are preserved.
thanks,

1. No, that's just adjustments from the ESXi side point of view to properly adjust and use the right OS.
2. Yes, that's explained in the upgrade documentation, and a backup plan should already be in place, even without an upgrade in the picture.
3. Pretty much the same major procedure, depending on what version of CUC you're going, you might need extra COP files, all of that, explained in the RNs/upgrade guide.
Yes, all your data will be there after the upgrade.

Does anyone know what the tool is that I need to run so that I can put the contract number there so that it will tell me what I need to upgrade to CCM and VoIP?
I lost the URL for this now that I have the contract numbers from the client. thanks!

Also, check out Cisco Prime Collaboration Deployment (PCD) which streamlines the process for you and eliminates the need to worry about steps such as when to switch versions, which nodes upgrade first, etc.
