CUCM 4.2 upgrade to CUCM 10.6

Hello,

I have a client who has a CUCM version 4.2 and wishes to migrate to version 10.6.
The CUCM 4.2 server running on an Intel Xeon 5140 @ 2,33GHz server which is running Windows server 2000 pack 4.
Is it possible to make an upgrade to CUCM 10.6, installing VMware Server on Intel server?

Regards,

Aristide

Hi,

please check the discussion on similar topic

regds,

aman

thanks Aman,

do you think that intel server can support CUCM version 7.1.5 and CUCM version 10.6, because the first option is to keep the intel server.

Aristide

Could you please post the config of the server?

Else you may want to visit the following DocWiki site of Cisco to see if the existing server would be supported or not

can u share the exact MCS model on which Call manager 4.x is working?

regds,

If your question is if you can virtualize for a production environment on an MCS, the answer is NO. You definitely cannot do that. You need a dedicated virtualization server where to host CUCM, as 10.x only runs over ESXi.

Whether your server supports 7.1(5) or not, it's impossible to tell as you don't mention the exact model, you'll need to find that out here:

Great discussion posted by Aman (+5).

At the same time, I think you are asking, if it is ok to install VMWare Server on an Intel Server?

Well, as long as you are not installing the VMWare server into a production environment and it is only for the purposes of testing, yes, it is ok.
