Distribution List with Exchange down

We are running Unity 7 tied to exchange, if exchange is down I know that messages will still be taken and users can listen to any new messages.  Can you send messages to distribution lists as well, what about creating new distribution lists?

In the GUSI i can see the folder size for these messages, how can you figure out the amount of messages it can hold?

Hi -

For clarification, subscribers can only listen to outside caller messages when Unity is in UMR mode. During an Exchange outage messages to distribution lists, such as the Unaddressed Messages distribution list, appear in the UMR but are addressed to the distribution list and not to the members of the distribution list, since lists are not expanded while in the UMR. Therefore, subscribers are not able to access them until they are expanded and delivered by Exchange.  Regarding the message size in the UnityMTA folder, this depends on your message codec and length of the message.  Here is a good doc that discusses these and lists the approximate size for a one-minute message - http://www.ciscosystems.cg/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/unity/white/paper/cuaudiocodecs.pdf

Sincerely,

Ginger
