Hi,
vmware -vl
VMware ESXi 6.0.0 build-3073146
VMware ESXi 6.0.0 Update 1
console
VMware ESXi 6.0.0 build-3073146-custom-Cisco-6.0.1
hardware: UCSC-c220-m4s
I am attempting to upgrade to version 6.5 or 7 because the VMware console displays 'VMware ESXi 6.0.0 build-3073146-custom-Cisco-6.0.1.' Is this a custom build from cisco, or can I download it from the VMware site and install it?"
Thanks

You can download it from the Vmware site. But make sure to download the "custom-cisco-iso".
For ESXi 7 you need a new license.
And also be aware to follow the vmware upgrade path.
Also check first, if your M4 with the CIMC version still supports the ESXi version you are going too. Maybe you need to do a CIMC upgrade first, before upgrading the ESXi.
And last but not least, you have to check, if your UC applications support the new ESXi version.

Application
CUCM version 11.5.1.13902-2
expressway X8.11.4
Hardware
UCSC-C220-M4S (BE6000M)
Here is the bundle
VMware-ESXi-6.7.0-17700523-Custom-Cisco-6.7.3.1-Bundle.zip
As per the screenshots below, CUCM 11.5 is compatible with version 6.7, and UCSC-C220-M4S (BE6000M) is also supported.
However, I currently have Expressway version X8.11.4, and my understanding is that it only supports 6.5.

I could not find any document about X8.11.4 comaptiblity other than some community forum
Also what if i not upgrade cimc
Thanks

This is one of the most important links you should know:
https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/uc_system/virtualization/cisco-collaboration-virtualization.html
You can check the esxi compatibility for the UC applications there.

If you do not upgrade CIMC then you will have a system that is in a none supported state and you run a significant risk of ending up having problems, with no possibility of getting help from TAC. Personally I would not recommend you to do that, itās not worth the risk if you weigh it to the effort to upgrade CIMC.

You can download the custom images for Cisco from this VMware link. For the version 7 license key, if the VMware came under the hardware part and if the hardware is under Cisco support, you could be able to request the key through MCE portal. This is the portal where you manage your eDelivery, version upgrades, etc.
If the Vmware was not a part of the server hardware, you need to get the License key seperately from Vmware.
