Hi All,
I have a problem to provide the Expressway ova to ESXi 6.5.
When I want to create a new VM with the ova from the Cisco Homepage, I get an error message in the Browser and the Session to the ESXi is killed.
Sourcefile: s42700x8_10_0.ova
Used Browser: Chrome (it does not matter, with other Browser it is also not working).
Error Message:
Ursache: TypeError: Cannot read property 'replace' of null Version: 1.21.0 Build: 5744014 ESXi: 6.5.0 Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/60.0.3112.90 Safari/537.36 Ausnahmestapel: TypeError: Cannot read property 'replace' of null at https://192.168.0.10/ui/scripts/main.js:368:13459 at Object.r [as forEach] (https://192.168.0.10/ui/scripts/main.js:318:21020) at https://192.168.0.10/ui/scripts/main.js:368:13149 at Object.r [as forEach] (https://192.168.0.10/ui/scripts/main.js:318:21126) at getPropertyFields (https://192.168.0.10/ui/scripts/main.js:368:12906) at new <anonymous> (https://192.168.0.10/ui/scripts/main.js:368:15748) at Object.e [as invoke] (https://192.168.0.10/ui/scripts/main.js:319:3874) at w.instance (https://192.168.0.10/ui/scripts/main.js:319:23885) at https://192.168.0.10/ui/scripts/main.js:319:15273 at r (https://192.168.0.10/ui/scripts/main.js:318:21126)
I think it is not yet supported on ESXi 6.5, isn't it?
Kind regards, M

Hi All,
thanks for the answers. I tried it with the X8.10 Version, but I get the error I copied in my first post.
Of course this could be an error of the ESXi, but I just wanted to know, if someone has successful provided this OVA file. If so, what has he /she done. :)
Thanks!
Kind regards,
M

The main virtualization wiki page shows 6.0 as the latest supported, but the VCS page does say 6.5
The same in the docs, one says 6.0, other says 6.5
Cisco VCS no longer supports ESXi 5.0 or ESXi 5.1 for virtual deployments. You must use ESXi 5.5 or ESXi 6.0.

Added ESXi 6.5 support.

I believe the only way is to upgrade the ESXi software as the Client integration plugin (CIP) is no longer used. I had the same problem with ESXi 6.5SU1 and upgraded to SU2c using the Cisco ESXi 5.5 to 6.x upgrade instructions. I would always caution that if these server are under management of a datacenter practice / group / organization, you should contact them first. Also, consider the ramifications of upgrade with regard to vCenter, if used. Remember, if you are using 3rd party virtualization for UC on UCS (Expressway falls under this support model) you must use vCenter.
In 6.0 you will need to enable SSH on the host and possibly http.
In 6.5 it's all http (html5) based so it's already enabled, just enable SSH.
In step 4 and 5, when you copy and paste the data, it will put it as 2 lines so use Notepad to help bring the lines together. My query for #4 (to obtain the latest 6.5 SU2c) is below.
esxcli software sources profile list -d https://hostupdate.vmware.com/software/VUM/PRODUCTION/main/vmw-depot-index.xml | grep ESXi-6.5.0-201808001-standard
Step 5:
esxcli software profile update -d https://hostupdate.vmware.com/software/VUM/PRODUCTION/main/vmw-depot-index.xml -p ESXi-6.5.0-201808001-standard
You'll need to follow the remaining steps to complete the upgrade.

The vSphere Web Client is packaged with the vCenter Server. You can install the vSphere Client from the VMware vCenter autorun menu that is part of the modules ISO file.
