Hello all,
After I upgrade cucm to 8.6, all phone is not registered to cucm. Status message shows tftp timeout. I check the tftp services, it is inactive. But when I try to activate in serviceability, theres no services showns. Refer attached. Then I reboot the cucm. tftp is active, but still phone unable to register. Also why there is no services shown in service activation and control center - feature services?
Please help

Hi Fauzan,
Is this an upgrade from MCS to VMWare ?
I think it's best if you'd open an SR for this.
Thanks!

Hi Christos,
Thanks for your response. I am using mcs7825 i4 with 2gb RAM. I have revert back to 8.03 version. Phones register straight away. Could it be the server is not supported? On 8.6(2a) web page there is message state that this hardware has limited functionality.
Thanks,
Fauzan

Hello Fauzan,
I don't know if you already solved the problem you stated. We are just finished an upgrade from CUCM 8.0(3) to CUCM 8.6(2a) and there is a point after switching from the first version to the second one where the phones in the cluster left unregistered as you said. Then we checked for the services in Control Center - Feature Services (in the same screen shot you posted we made click on "go" button there) and the services appeared as "Deactivated". So we had to go to "Service Activation" and selecting the server, click on "go" and then activated the services. Only after doing that the phones registered an everything is O.K.
We didn't find this kind of information or warning anywhere; so we found useful to post it here,
HTH,
Alvaro

Thanks Alvaro,
The screenshot that I posted is after I clicked "go" button. No service appeared after I clicked the "go" button.
BTW, I have solve the problem with assist from cisco TAC eng.
The problem is due to improper upgrade where subscriber node has switched to new version before publisher switch to new version.
Solution : Re-upgrade the both subs and pubs.
1. Install on pubs. do not switch version on it.
2. Intsall on subs, do not switch version on it.
3. Switch version on pubs, then subs.

Hi Lee,
Did you try to upgrade your CUCM?
Try activate/restart the Call Manager and TFTP services.
Try readd your phones. Does phones have CUCM IP?
This link might help you troubleshoot.

Hi Lee,
1. Are you getting any error message on IP Phones e.g. " Auth Fail " etc ?
2. What is the CUCM version now ?
3. What is the phoneload shown on phones ?
4. What is the phoneload shown in device default for that phone model in CUCM Admin page ?
5. Do you mean phone shows DN but shows unregistered on CUCM Page ?
6. Do you have enough liceses for those phones ?

Hi Gajanan,
1. Are you getting any error message on IP Phones e.g. " Auth Fail " etc ?
- No error at all. Only prompted failed to register.
2. What is the CUCM version now ?
CUCM 8.6(2a)
3. What is the phoneload shown on phones ?
Keep on registering.
4. What is the phoneload shown in device default for that phone model in CUCM Admin page ?
Preload is SCCP 9.2.3
5. Do you mean phone shows DN but shows unregistered on CUCM Page ?
No DN at all on the phone
6. Do you have enough liceses for those phones ?
Yes.
The weird thing if i am using CUCM 8.6(2a), all is working fine.
If i upgraded ot CUCM 8.6(2a) SU 1, all is NOT working.

Lee,
In your earlier response, you mentioned that " I am using sccp 8.5 for 7911, 7961, 7970." so does it mean these phones have SCCP firmware version 8.5 or lower ? Do you remember that ?
If they are at 8.5 then there should not be any issue in upgrading firmware to 9.2.3 but if they are not on 8.5 already, then they must be at 8.5 before getting up to 9.2.3.
Firmware 9.2.3 release notes mentions " For all SCCP firmware upgrades from firmware release versions earlier than 8.3(3) to Version 9.2(3) or later, you must first upgrade your firmware to an intermediate Version (8.3(3) to 8.5(2)) and then upgrade to 9.2(3). "

Hi Gaja,
Ya, I notice on the pre-requirement of the 9.2.
I did that which upgraded all my phone firmware is running on 8.5 now.
But once i upgraded to CUCM 8.6(2a) su1, all my phone failed to register where my phone firmware is running on 8.5.
But same way, once i downgraded to CUCM 8.6 (2a), all phone is registered and working fine.
At the same time, all my phone is running on the 8.5 firmware.
The different is CUCM 8.6(2a) su1 & CUCM 8.6(2a).

I'm having similar trouble as well. After upgrading to 8.6(2), I'm unable to do much under Service Activation and Feature Services. Hardware was upgraded to 4 GB of RAM and software licensing is correct to my knowledge. This is the only UCM server, so no publisher/subscriber fixes should be pertinent to this issue.

Hi Wiljasen,
If you have clicked GO and still no services appear. Revert to working version and reupgrade back.
Thanks.
