Hi,
I am currently working in a mixed NT4 and win2k environment, all of whom have Unity accounts. There is no problem at all with the users who are logged into machines belonging to the AD domain, however when we are using NT4 workstations (not in the domain) it takes over a minute for Unity to ask for the correct credentials username/password/domain. Is there anyway of spoofing the credentials, rather than sending the username/password/computername, send username/password/domain. If this is not possible, is there anyway we can reduce the time in which it takes for Unity to prompt us for the correct information.
Thanks in advance,
Regards,

Hi Steve - I'm not aware of a way to spoof the credentials. As for the delay, I would suggest that you open a TAC case.

Hi Harasha,
Thanks for your advice, I will raise a TAC case.

Hi,
I've been looking at other comments on the Unity forum and I think they may be your comments:-
"I think 3 might be the culprit here. Unity should be able to reach the PC using the IP address. Here is how this works:
Outlook/VMO hands the IP address of the PC to Unity as the source of the audio stream and then Unity tries to establish a DCOM connection to that IP address to fetch the stream. So, if the IP address is not reachable, we have a problem. Can you configure your network so the IP address of the PC becomes reachable from Unity?
The other option is to upgrade to Unity 4.04. When VMO 4.04 is used with Unity 4.04, Unity fetches the audio stream from Exchange, instead of from Outlook. So, there is no DCOM call made from Unity to the PC. (see bug CSCee03366)"
Should I upgrade? Could this resolve the problem I'm having with authentication?
Thanks and regards,
Steve

Hi Steve,
Upgrading to 4.04 will not make the authentication dialog box go away. Here is why:
The telephone record and playback (TRaP) feature can only be used by Unity subscribers. To enforce this, Unity has to establish who the user is and this is where authentication comes into the picture. In the case of VMO TRaP, NTLM authentication is used - When a user logs on to a PC as, say, somename/somedomain and makes a TRaP call, these credentials are passed on to Unity (not the credentials you use to log in to Outlook). Unity then tries to map the credentials to a Unity subscriber before dialing out to the phone. If the credential mapping fails, VMO gets an "unknown user" response from Unity and VMO pops up the credentials dialog box. In your case, Unity tries to map username/password/computername to a Unity subscriber and fails.
4.04 addresses what happens "after" Unity successfully dials out to the TRaP extension and so will not address your issue. Hope that helps.

That does help me...
Thank you and regards,
