Hi Experts,
I've 4 CUCM clusters for my customer, all of them are connected to the same AD server and even user search base is same, but i do not sync all the users to all of them, consider if i have 8 users first 2 will be on CL1 and 2nd 2 users will be on CL2 and so on (same user won't be on 2 clusters)
Question is when my customer does corporate directory search, they can find the users who are in the same cluster but not on the different cluster, it works fine when they do it on Jabber but on IP phone it fails, need your inputs to know why it happens.

Could you clarify what you mean by “failing on IP phones”? Are you unable to view the users, or is the IP phone displaying all the users in the Active Directory ? If it’s showing all the users in the AD, then you need to apply a filter in the LDAP Directory Config. This will ensure that only the users intended for that cluster are imported to the Cisco Unified Communications Manager.

The phones searches the CM for the users in the directory whereas Jabber searches AD. So what you’re seeing is how it is supposed to work. If you need to see all the users in the corporate directory on the phones you’ll need to sync all the users from AD into each of your CM clusters.

Jabber will be impacted as well when connected over MRA. It’s only capable of querying LDAP directly when on-prem; Expressway will not proxy that protocol.
Unless your environment is huge, CUCM-IM&P should be able to handle syncing in all users. The alternative is finding a 3rd-party product capable of providing an alternate corporate directory phone service for IP Phones and UDS for Jabber.
