Several questions on CME

I know..  this is really not a good idea to list questions here.. but I have been searching searching but can not find the right answers to these.

I am planning on deploying several 2900 series ISR to my work places(branches).  And some offices are in other country.

1) can CME connect to my branches with 2900 series ISRs (even the over sea located branches) ?  I am planning on getting IP phone 9900 series and wish to have video call between branches.

2) How many concurrent calls can 2900 series make?  (I know that each models in 2900 series have different number of supported phones, but I guess actually concurrent calls that can make can be different than the number of supported phones)

3) Will I regret not getting the CUCM later? I see CUCM is more advanced UC system.. but it costs too much..

Thank you so much!

Hi ,

Please use the below link for Cisco Unified CME 8.5 Supported Firmware, Platforms, Memory, and Voice Products,

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucme/requirements/guide/cme85spc.htm.html

Thanks,

I have many customers using CME since many years.

None so far has wanted to migrate to CUCM, especially when informed of certain drawbacks, beside the cost.

Thank you so much!

What would be the drawbacks of using CUCM?

Can CME support features like HD Video conference? (I could not find that one on data sheet. although it says it support video feature.)

I assume since CUCM is $$$ than CME, there must be things that make it better than CME..

Am I wrong on this?

Thank you!

There are few posts comparing CME and CUCM features, that you can search.

Video conf is a separate product that neither CME or CME do. They both do simple video calls.

In any case you should work with a reputable consultant or certfied Cisco partner. If you try to do youself you may end up loosing much time and don't get professional results.
