I have the following setup:
3 Unity 4.04(SR1) servers running Win2K. Each Unity has its own dedicated Exchange 2K server. There are also two dedicated servers that function as Global Catalog Servers/Domain Controllers.
I am having some sort of synchronization issue on one of my servers(Unity 1), but I am not sure how to go about diagnosing what the exact issue is. I am hoping that I can describe my symptoms and someone can help me with some suggestions. Here goes....
Symptom 1:
If a user on Unity server 2 or 3 changes their recorded name, the change is not reflected from mailboxes on Unity 1. In other words, if I log into a mailbox on Unity 1, choose option 2 to send message, and enter the users extension, I hear the original recorded name rather than the new recorded name. The correct recording is played from Mailboxes on the other two servers.
Symptom 2:
The servers are using license pooling, but Unity 1 does not show the same number of licenses in use as Unity 2 & 3.
Troubleshooting Steps:
1) I have verified that Unity 1 can connect to the DC/GCS using the DCGC reconnect tool.
2) Unity 1 passes all the tests in the Directory Access Diagnostics tool.
3)I can manually re-synchronize the server using the DCGC reconnect tool and the symptoms will clear, but future changes are not synchronized.
Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Robert

Hi Robert -
Are the DC/GC servers in the same domain? Are they in the same AD site for replication? I would check the directory service log on your DCs for any recent replication errors. You can also run repadmin /showreps from the command line and review any resulting errors. Here is a good troubleshooting link that may help you isolate a problem or eliminate replication as an issue - http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/windowsserver2003/library/ServerHelp/22764cb5-9860-4f8f-95e7-337df24edf74.mspx

The DC/GC's, Unity and Exchange servers are all on the same Domain. Additionally, they are all on the same switch.
Thanks for the advice. I'll check the logs, run the commands and check out the link.

Thanks for the Info, Ginger. I ran repadmin and it did not report any errors. I do not see any errors in the DC's event viewer.
Hopefully I will find some time today to go through the troubleshooting document you provided, but I went ahead and opened a ticket. If I/TAC finds the resolution, I will advise.
Thanks Again-

Hi,
I was wondering what the result of your TAC case was? I have a similar problem with the license pooling in that 2 of 3 servers show the correct amount of licenses but the "Unity 1" server does not show the licenses for the other 2.
Thanks in advance

do you have license pooling license installed on the "unity 1" server. all three servers will need a license pooling license.
