Hi All
We have a customer with CallManager 4.1(2)es15 and they bought the 3&3 promotion to go from 4.1 to 8.0. They have 30 IP Phones and 314 Analog Phones.
This is what the customer bought:
1 | CUCM-USR-LIC | Top Level Sku For User License |
50 | MIG-CUCM-USR | Upgrade ala carte CM to ENH USR, 1 User |
314 | MIG-LIC-ANALOG | Upgrade from ala carte CM to Analog USR, 1 User |
50 | UCSS-UCM-3-1 | UCSS for UCM User for three Year - 1 users |
314 | UCSS-ANLG-3-1 | UCSS for UCM analog user for three Year - 1 users |
1 | UCM-7825-80 | CUCM 8.0 7825 |
|
|
|
1 | MCS7825I4-K9-CMD1 | Unified CM 8.0 7825-I4 Appliance |
The customer received two PAKs:
| CUCM-PAK | PAK Auto-Expanding PAK for CUCM |
UCSS-UCM-PAK | Include PAK Auto-Expanding UCSS PAK for CUCM |
We tried to register the first PAK, and the following appears in the Registration page:
Two questions:
1) Why we can only register 100 licenses if the customer bought licenses to upgrade 50 IP Phones and 314 analog Phones? What does 100 Licenses means?
2) Could the customer register 20 more IP Phones without buying additional licensing, based on the fact that the customer bought licenses for 50 IP Phones and they are only going to migrate 30 IP Phones?
Thanks a lot for your help.
Regards,
Annya

You are given 100 DLU since with UCL now includes SNR/Mobile Connect. Your current phones will carry over their DLU and you are given two more to turn on this feature if you like.

Thank Srini for your quick response.
And what about the DLUs for the 30 IP Phones and 314 Analog Phones? 100 DLUs is not enough...
Thanks,
Annya

As mentioned above your current DLU will be retained during the migration and hence you don't need DLU for that. You are provided 2 DLU for SNR. Now keep in mind for adding 20 more users you do need to buy enhanced/basic user licensing. These 50 are strictly migration sku and cannot be used for new users. Analog devices don't take any DLU except for ATA.

Thanks you Srini
I have another couple of questions:
1) When registering the UCSS-UCM-PAK, the Registration page ask for the MAC Address of the server. The customer has an old 7825 and they are going to replace it with a new 7825 to install UCM 8.0. Which MAC Address to we have to register, the MAC of the Old Server or New Server? We understand that we have to make intermediate upgrades from 4.1 to 8.0 using both servers.
2) If the system is still based on DLU, why can't we register more IP Phones if we have DLUs available? For example, if we don't want to use SNR, can we use the 100 DLUs?
Thanks,
Annya

Use the new server
Nothing will stop you from using it but that's a violation of the licensing rules. Also with 9.X when user licensing is enforced it could cause problems

Now, we are going to order the upgrade from the Product Upgrade Tool.
Which product numbers do we have to order to upgrade the UCM from 4.1(2) to 8.0?
These are the available options from PUT:
I understand that we have to do several steps to get to 8.0.
Thanks,
Annya
