Upgrading from CUCM 7.1(3) to 7.1.5b(SU3)

This upgrade is downloaded in two parts. Are they supposed to be combined into one ISO or just burned separately once they are downloaded?

It would be in the release notes but should be along these lines:

On a Unix/Linux system, copy and paste the following command from this document into the CLI to combine the two files:

cat UCS_Install_UCOS_7.1.2.30000-3.sgn.iso_part1of2 UCS_Install_UCOS_7.1.2.30000-3.sgn.iso_part2of2 >

UCSInstall_UCOS_7.1.2.30000-3.sgn.iso

•On a Windows system, copy and paste the following command from this document into the command prompt (cmd.exe) to combine the two files:

COPY /B UCS_Install_UCOS_7.1.2.30000-3.sgn.iso_part1of2+UCS_Install_UCOS_7.1.2.30000-3.sgn.iso_part2of2

UCSInstall_UCOS_7.1.2.30000-3.sgn.iso

This is an example from a 7.1.2 document so you would replace the filenames based on your specific upgrade files.

Most all of the upgrade files are contained within 2 or more files.  They are intended to be combined into a single file.  The release

notes for the upgrade will give the exact command line syntax based on your platform (Win vs. Linux) to combine the files into a single file.  Make sure you verify the checksum of the file when you are done as well.  It should match what it listed in the release notes as well.

I checked the readme for my platform and

it only mentioned the MD5 checksum, there was nothing about combining the two parts.

I will look again but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. Each part is about 1.7gb

in size.

It would be in the release notes but should be along these lines:

On a Unix/Linux system, copy and paste the following command from this document into the CLI to combine the two files:

cat UCS_Install_UCOS_7.1.2.30000-3.sgn.iso_part1of2 UCS_Install_UCOS_7.1.2.30000-3.sgn.iso_part2of2 >

UCSInstall_UCOS_7.1.2.30000-3.sgn.iso

•On a Windows system, copy and paste the following command from this document into the command prompt (cmd.exe) to combine the two files:

COPY /B UCS_Install_UCOS_7.1.2.30000-3.sgn.iso_part1of2+UCS_Install_UCOS_7.1.2.30000-3.sgn.iso_part2of2

UCSInstall_UCOS_7.1.2.30000-3.sgn.iso

This is an example from a 7.1.2 document so you would replace the filenames based on your specific upgrade files.

This is exactly what I was looking for but I get an error "The system cannot find the

file specified".

Yes, there is in fact version 7.1.5b(SU3). It is listed under

Cisco Unity Connection Updates.

I got it to work after all. My problem was I had to capitalize the /B instead of /b.

Problem resolved. Thanks

Hi Z,

Just to add the link to the awesome tips from my friend Hailey (+5 H-Man)

I'm guessing you are referring to 7.1(5b) which just came out on Jan.11 (there is no SU3 for 7.1(5)

Upgrading from Unified CM 6.x or Later by Using the UCSInstall File

Note Release 6.x customers can install this version, but the ccm.exe will not run unless 7.0 software licenses exist on the system.

Because of its size, the UCSInstall iso file, UCOS_7.1.5.30000-1.sgn.iso, comprises two parts:

UCSInstall_UCOS_7.1.5.30000-1.sgn.iso_part1of2

UCSInstall_UCOS_7.1.5.30000-1.sgn.iso_part2of2

Procedure

Step 1 From the Software Download page on Cisco.com, download the two UCSInstall files.

Step 2 To combine the two files, execute one of the following commands.

Note Because the UCSInstall_UCOS_7.1.5.30000-1 build specifies a nonbootable ISO, the build proves useful only for upgrades. You cannot use this build for new installations.

a. If you have a Unix/Linux system, copy and paste the following command into the CLI:

cat UCSInstall_UCOS_7.1.5.30000-1.sgn.iso_part1of2 UCSInstall_UCOS_7.1.5.30000-1.sgn.iso_part2of2 > UCSInstall_UCOS_7.1.5.30000-1.sgn.iso

b. If you have a Windows system, copy and paste the following command into the command prompt (cmd.exe):

COPY /B UCSInstall_UCOS_7.1.5.30000-1.sgn.iso_part1of2+UCSInstall_UCOS_7.1.5.30000-1.sgn.iso_part2of2 UCSInstall_UCOS_7.1.5.30000-1.sgn.iso

Step 3 Use an md5sum utility to verify that the MD5 sum of the final file is correct.

272eee358eeb4d50dc1986cb54bb21fa UCSInstall_UCOS_7.1.5.30000-1.sgn.iso

Step 4 Continue by following the instructions in the "Upgrading from a Local Source" section or the "Upgrading from a Remote Source" section.

Hi Z,

My bad! I didn't even see that. Here is the new info;

Because of its size, the UCSInstall iso file, UCOS_7.1.5.32900-2.sgn.iso, comprises two parts:
#

•UCSInstall_UCOS_7.1.5.32900-2.sgn.iso_part1of2
#

•UCSInstall_UCOS_7.1.5.32900-2.sgn.iso_part2of2
#

Procedure
#

Step 1 From the Software Download page on Cisco.com, download the two UCSInstall files.
##

Step 2 To combine the two files, execute one of the following commands.
#

Note Because the UCSInstall_UCOS_7.1.5.32900-2 build specifies a nonbootable ISO, the build proves useful only for upgrades. You cannot use this build for new installations.
#

a. If you have a Unix/Linux system, copy and paste the following command into the CLI:
#

#

cat UCSInstall_UCOS_7.1.5.32900-2.sgn.iso_part1of2 UCSInstall_UCOS_7.1.5.32900-2.sgn.iso_part2of2 > UCSInstall_UCOS_7.1.5.32900-2.sgn.iso

#

b. If you have a Windows system, copy and paste the following command into the command prompt (cmd.exe):
#

#

COPY /B UCSInstall_UCOS_7.1.5.32900-2.sgn.iso_part1of2+UCSInstall_UCOS_7.1.5.32900-2.sgn.iso_part2of2 UCSInstall_UCOS_7.1.5.32900-2.sgn.iso

#

Step 3 Use an md5sum utility to verify that the MD5 sum of the final file is correct.
#

The MD5 for the Restricted combined download is: 24ade072e20504510d9493e12b8b8ef7

Cheers!
