We recently bought some 16GB memory DIMMs for a B200-M2 (not Cisco) for testing and a urgent need to increase our memory requirements on a ESXi server cluster.
We are receiving a "has a invalid FRU" error. The cause is "identity-unestablished".
We are running an older version on the 6120 fabric interconnects. Is that the problem?
Do any know when Cisco will be selling/supporting the 16Gb DIMM?

I thought it's the case that you can use the non-Cisco memory on the blade (as in it will function), you'll just get the error. It's not supported by Cisco so you run the risk that TAC will make you replace it prior to helping you. It looks like there are a few 16GB module in the current capability catalog e.g. Samsung M393b2k70cm0-yf8 (1066Mhz quad rank) or M393b2k70cm-yf8 (1333Mhz dual rank), and a Hynix HMT42GR7BMR4A-H9DX (1333Mhz quad rank).

@Simon
That appears to be an older Capability catalogue 1.0(6).
The latest is 1.0(16): http://www.cisco.com/cisco/software/release.html?mdfid=283612672&flowid=22141&softwareid=283118767
Correct about only Cisco memory being supported by TAC.

You will not be able to use non-Cisco memory in the blades. Supported hardware is determined by the Capability Catalogue, the latest version of which can be found here:
But even with the latest catalogue you cannot install unsupported memory, it just won't work.
See this post for more details. https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-13505
Cisco 16 GB DIMMS are listed as an option for the B200 M2 in the design tool. The part number is A02-M316GB2-L.

Robert Thanks for the updated. This is great information.
I tried to upload the newest catalog and I am getting a error stating that the downloading catalog file ucs-catalog-1.0.16t.bin from x.x.x.x failed.
Do I need to be a certain version of the UCS for this catalog to work?
Thanks.

Can anyone out there send me a human readable copy of the latest "Capability Catalog"? I can't access it in the C220 M3 stand-alone version that I have.
Thanks,
Mike

As explained in your other thread you don't use a Capability Catalogue with standalone C-Series...
