Hello,
I have an existing environment of 2 6248 switches and 2 UCS Chassis 16 blades total. The are running ESXi 5.5 and a virtualized vCenter.
To save on costs, the bosses want to purchase a Dell FX2 with 8 Blades and attach it to the 6248. Will this be possible? My initial thought is "No" since this is not Cisco hardware. I may have to recommend a UCS C series server.
I will also a ticket with TAC. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Greg,
You can not connect non Cisco UCS Devices to the Fabric Interconnect. That is unfortunately not supported since the Fabric Interconnect will only recognize Cisco Products. You can also not manage items that are non-cisco from the UCS Manager. The best option would be to get a UCS C Series Server and set it up as integrated into your Fabric Interconnect (This is possible, in which you can be able to manage the UCS C-Series from UCS Manager).
Below is a link with different modes on integration with a C-Series Stand alone.

Hello,
It is not possible/supported to connect Dell blade servers/chassis to UCSM for management. You can, however, manage C series rack mount servers through UCSM.
Thanks,
Wes
