Hi All, I need to understand how to access the serial port on a C210 server. I basically have CUCM installed on a C210 but I have the requirement to send certain character strings out of the serial port when an Ip phone dials a certain number.
Can anyone enlighten me please?
Thanks

Hello Paul,
I assume CUCM is a virtual machine as it cannot be installed directly on UCS server hardware.
If that is the scenario, you can create a serial port for the CUCM virtual machine and dump necessary data to a file.

Thanks Padma, It's not quite what I'm after as the guide refers to a temporary use for the install logs. I'm really after a permanent solution that cucm can output a character string to.
But thanks all the same

Paul,
If you could explain the use case, voice experts might be able to provide alternative solutions.
The file is permanent where characters sent out of serial port of a VM would get logged into. The doc suggests to start using a new file after you power on the VM to avoid the data dumped by kernel during the boot sequence.

well I'm doing a migration from a legacy PBX environment to a CUCM one on UCS - no problems there BUT the client uses a Delmatic lighting control system where they can dial an access number and the PBX sends a control message out through the serial port of the PBX to the lighting system and it can turn the lights on/off or dim them. Now I need to replicate this somehow. I'm thinking of enabling the messaging interface within callmanager (version 8.6.2) and then routing the access number out through the serial port and hoping that the tele number where the call came from also gets passed in the control message.
Not too sure if this is possible or I'm on the right track but the lighting control manufacturers are hopeless and never return a call.
Thanks
