Hi
We plan to upgrade our current C240 with some new drives, but almost all drives from the server specification is EOL (https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/products/collateral/servers-unified-computing/ucs-c-series-rack-servers/c240m4-lff-spec-sheet.pdf).
If we want to install these drives UCS-HD8T7K4KAN, which I didn't find in the spec, will they work with the server?
For example with B-series the incompatible drives won't work due the capability catalog. And I'm not sure that with C-series ons, Other Unified Computing Systemthere is no such thing.
So can you please help me with this choice Š”240 M4 LFF + UCS-HD8T7K4KAN?

They do actually have a capability catalog, which is generally going to be based off of spec sheets.
Probably more important than the CIMC capability catalog, is the raid controller, as it's firmware is going to be ultimately what detects the drive.

The drive you are referencing is spec'd for the M5 LLF series. The drive sleds are a bit smaller (at least on the SFF), and I'm not even sure that drive would correctly seat into a M4, although a I think drive& sled dimentions look the same, in addition to the other capability issues you already mentioned are are more likely the show stopper issue.

Hi Kirk,
Thanks for the reply. Can you please clarify few things?
Our server is LFF and the drive is LFF, so I guess it should be ok regarding the size and sleds.
Second thing - do the C-series have capability catalog? If yes, I don't understand, how can I buy the drives for the server as there no available drives in CCW from C240M4 spec doc.

Hi Kirk,
Thanks for your reply!

Using 7-zip utility, if you keep unzipping that capability catalog file, you will eventually end up with a .xml file that you can search and see what drives/hardware are listed in it.
